Milestones.

Company founders Andreas Zachmann, Helmuth Pauli and Hans-Peter Frei, after whom ZPF is named, had the idea of utilising synergies: These three structural engineers’ close connections with the architectural office Herzog & de Meuron were given a basis in the form of ZPF Ingenieure AG. The result: a series of renowned and extraordinary construction projects.

Founded in 2001, ZPF is now one of Switzerland’s most famous structural engineering companies. We are also involved in renowned international projects, for which we provide consulting services and concepts.

2024

On 2 November, the Children's Hospital Zurich goes into operation - after 12 years of planning and construction. We are delighted with the successful completion and happy users!

After five years, the ZPF team in May is finally on the road again - this time in Rotterdam and finishing off on the North Sea.

In December, ETH Zurich announces that it has selected Dr Jacqueline Pauli as Professor of Structural Design at the Department of Architecture. She will succeed Prof. Joseph Schwartz in 2023.

The first Architecture Week Basel was a complete success! ZPF supported the biennial as a partner and opened its offices to interested parties with an exhibition and event.

2021

Prix Acier 2021 for Auen school complex! In october ZPF receive their second prize for steel construction after Birsbridge in 2014.

In May our new website is online - Spectral planning is the art of engineering by ZPF Ingenieure!

Material matters - so since summer 2020, we have been a service partner of Madaster, the global online platform for circular use of products and materials in the built environment.

Fit for the future: The founding of ZPF Consulting AG in Zurich and ZPF Structure AG in Basel not only enables operational autonomy at these locations, but also provides ZPF Ingenieure with more opportunities with regard to customer acquisition and competitions.

From April, the ZPF Ingenieure in Zurich are new located at Förrlibuckstrasse 30.

Tobias Huber becomes a Partner in summer.

ZPF has won the competition for the University Hospital Perimeter B with the planning collective Herzog & de Meuron / Rapp Architekten!

In January, the road maintenance depot in Sissach goes into operation. Upon completion of the landscaping, the building was officially inaugurated on May 18th.

On October 30, three of our projects receive the "Award for Good Buildings Canton Basel-Landschaft Canton Basel-Stadt 2018": Kunstmuseum, Helsinki and Asklepios are excellent!

Our largest timber construction, the road works depot at Sissach, celebrates its uprising on August 29th.

After Basel Fasnacht, we move into our additional office space at Kohlberggasse 1 in Basel.

On August 13th Pfeffingen castle ruin re-opens for visitors - one year earlier than anticipated.

End of march ZPF launches its new website which includes an expert blog – a reflection of the interdisciplinary cooperation on the construction site.

Foundation stone ceremony for Building 98 on the Roche site in Basel.

Biogen NGM: The ground-breaking ceremony is held in April on Switzerland's largest construction site, in Luterbach, Solothurn. This project is realised in cooperation with the architects at Burckhardt+Partner Basel.

The extended and converted Kunstmuseum Basel opens its doors in April – our latest seamless masonry facade.

2015

Completion of the  Novartis high-rise “Asklepios”.

Heike Egli and Jacqueline Pauli are appointed to the company management. Christian Rudin, Luis Looser and Manuel Wehrle become partners at ZPF.

Jacqueline Pauli becomes a partner, Helmuth Pauli retires and Manuel Wehrle joins ZPF.

The Birskopfsteg bridge wins the Swiss steel construction award Prix Acier.

ZPF opens its Zurich office at Gartenhofstrasse 15.

100: The conversion of the Basel City Library, thanks to a winning competition entry with Itten+Brechbühl, is ZPF Ingenieure's hundredth project.

Heike Egli and Ana Maria Eigenmann become partners and Christian Rudin starts his career at ZPF.

The Museum of Cultures Basel is opened after 10 years of planning and construction.

The design for the  Birskopfsteg bridge wins the competition!

With architect Luca Selva, ZPF wins the competition for the FCB Junior Campus.

The Vitrahaus building in Weil am Rhein is opened in March – a very special bridge support structure.

2009

Sali Sadikaj and Nico Ros become ZPF partners and members of the  company's management board. Hans-Peter Frei officially leaves the firm.

2008

The office is moved to Kohlenberggasse 1 in central Basel.

Sali Sadikaj switches to ZPF on the 1st of February.

Basel City Fire Station: The earthquake-resistance measures for the building in the Lützelhof courtyard are finished.

2007

GYB Payerne wins awards: Bauwelt-Preis 2007 and “best architects 08”".

2006

In cooperation with Japan's Fumihiko Maki from Tokyo, Square 3 is built on the Novartis Campus.

Nico Ros joins ZPF on the 1st of November.

2005

Novartis Fabrikstrasse 10 is ZPF's first project with an international architect, Yoshio Taniguchi from Tokyo.

Leafy canopy: The Breite schoolhouse in Muttenz is given a new schoolyard roof – the first of a number of projects with Christ & Gantenbein.

The Schaulager building wins the Beton Architecture Prize 05; Herzog & de Meuron pass the trophy, and recognition, on to ZPF.

2004

Heike Egli officially leaves the office Helmuth Pauli and joins ZPF.

Biotech-Gebäude building 95: ZPF's first large-scale project with Herzog & de Meuron for Roche.
